A wise person once remarked “you could find everything you need to build a car at Kumeu”, and they weren’t wrong! Whether it’s a crate engine from one of the country’s largest aftermarket parts suppliers or a pre-loved gearshift knob off a Hot Rodder’s small Swap Site, it’s all at The Kumeu Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival.

Finished your project and don’t need parts?

No sweat, you can even set up the cars insurance at the festival!

Regardless of what you’re into or the size of your wallet, taking the time to wander amongst all the Swap and Trade Sites is an essential part of your day (or two).

Live Music

If you have attended The Kumeu Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival before you would have seen a variety of New Zealand bands play over the years (& even Bad Company from the UK in 2018).  The 2024 Festival will be no different.  We have bands play throughout the day on Friday, Saturday & Sunday of the Festival and even have Friday & Saturday night bands for those that camp at the Festival.

Monster Truck

Monster Truck Rides

To help us celebrate our 30th birthday bash we have invited Daniel and his Monster Truck to Auckland.

The 6 Tonne Taurus Monster Truck (V8 Chevy Silverado) was built in the good ol' US of A.  Taurus can carry up to 10 passengers and is certified for amusement rides.    

Monster Truck Rides will be available in the Oval for ONLY $10 each!

Kids Hot Rod Race

I'm guessing that is a YES!  Well, Head to the Kids Entertainment Area on Friday at 7.30 pm! 

The Kumeu Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival & Mater are excited to welcome back the 2024 Kids Hot Rod Race with the help of Anthony from Levin Entertainments

This event is for 5 to 10 year old's. 

Racers will be separated into:

* 5, 6 & 7 year old's

* 8, 9 & 10 year old's

(Older siblings or a Parent are able to ride with the 5 year old's)

Racers need to be at the Start Line for their Racer Safety Meeting

7.15 pm sharp

(Anyone arriving after the Safety meeting will be unable to Race)

The Kumeu Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival HQ Team go through each and every applicant for the Show Shed.  We are not always looking for the most pretty Classic Cars and Hot Rods to display in the Main Show Shed.  We are looking for a "variety of cars, be it Race Car or a Hot Rod, to keep the display fresh and interesting for the general public" explains Ken Galvin.  

The People's Choice winning car becomes the next event poster car.

Show Sheds

Grab a reprieve from the Sun in one of our 5 Show Sheds. 

Our Main Show Shed houses the most beautiful cars that are all vying for the Kumeu Classic Car & hot Rod Festivals coveted People's Choice.  Head through to the next Show Shed and you will find the Northland Art Centre Display with some talented NZ artworks on display & Live Air Brushing with Julia Tapp & her students as well as the Adrenaline Events NZ Racing Experience (this is where you can find the Fastest Lap Competition).

But, it doesn't end there we still have 2 more Show Sheds.  Move on through to the Beauty Pageant Shed (Sponsored by the Very Vintage Day Out).  The Beauty Pageant Shed is home to our annual Beauty Pageants (Best Dressed).  And this year will be home to the Very Vintage Mini Market with a variety of vintage inspired small businesses and a relaxing place to enjoy the Pageants.  Also found in the VVDO Beauty Pageant Shed is FREE Retro Hair & Make Up (with Beauty School Dropouts), Beautiful Handmade Retro Fashion, retro inspired accessory shopping & Vintage inspired crafts.  Need to find out more about the Very Vintage Day Out?  Head along to our VVDO website.  Finally we reach the final Show Shed (the smallest of all 3 Show Sheds).  The final Show Shed will be a NEW setup this year with our VIP Area finding a new home in Shed 5.

There’s nothing quite like the smell of nitro, and the cackle through the headers isn’t too shabby either!

It is with great sadness that our Brother from another Mother, Fletch, will not be able to join us for the Repco Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival 2022.  We will all miss you this year Fletch, with the hope that you will be able to join us again in 2023.

I am proud to announce that Classic Restos is Australia's longest running (continually produced) Automotive TV Show of its kind.  Classic Restos goes to air on various television networks in SIX countries every week.  This means, The Kumeu Classic Car & Hot Rod Festival 2021 will be seen in an episode from Australia, across the Pacific, NZ into Canada, the USA... and even London !!
